Bleeding Edge Web Meetup
July 26, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Capital Factory (Located in the Austin Centre)
701 Brazos Street, 16th floor, Austin, TX
We love the Web because it’s open, free, and highly connected. But sometimes the Web falls short: big businesses are centralizing control, data is getting tied up on servers, and users are losing their privacy.
The Beaker browser is rethinking these problems. It solves the dependency on services by enabling any device to publish websites independently, using a peer-to-peer network. Join us to discuss how P2P technology will impact the Web, and to see a demo of the browser in action.
About the Speakers
Paul (@pfrazee) and Tara (@taravancil) are the founders of Blue Link Labs and the creators of the Beaker Browser and Hashbase. We’re building new Web technologies that promote freedom, creativity, and personal privacy.
News From the Bleeding Edge
In addition to the main talk, Brian will start us off with the crowd favorite “News from the Bleeding Edge” segment, in which we’ll discuss all the latest and greatest in browsers and web app development.
Can’t Make it in Person?
Our events are livestreamed — watch here (available once the meetup begins). You can also jump into Slack for virtual Q&A and discussion during the meeting — look for the #live-meetup channel. Please join the group if you haven’t already!
NOTE: Please RSVP here ONLY if you plan to attend in person as it helps us plan for attendance and food. If you plan to watch online there’s no need to RSVP.
Street parking is free after 6pm on Wednesdays (well, for now). You can also park in the Omni garage, directly under Capital Factory (enter from Brazos) for a flat fee of $5. Don’t forget to ask for a parking validation card before you leave!
