Austin Linux Meetup: Become a CLI Power User!

May 9, 2019 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

It pays to learn the ins and outs of your favorite shell and editor to automate all kinds of daily and routine tasks. We’ll be covering many features in a powerful shell (bash) and a text editor (emacs) that will allow you to begin–or continue–your journey toward Command Line Ninjadom!

The goal is to get as much as possible done using text and command line tools keeping in mind the the half-century old (and counting) wisdom of Doug McIlroy’s UNIX Philosophy: “Write programs to handle text streams, because that is a universal interface.”

As with all philosophies, this one is also far from perfect, but it’s got something going for it if it’s been around since before humans reached the Moon!

Please step forward to sponsor Pizza ($75-$100 only!), otherwise we’ll have snacks and drinks.
