Austin Deep Learning Meetup: Improving Cancer Diagnosis Using Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence

October 8, 2019 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Pathologic analysis of patient tissue specimens plays a central role in the field of oncology. This talk will discuss how computer vision is aiming to advance the way in which we perform cancer diagnosis from digital pathology images. We will also discuss some of the unique technical challenges that this domain presents and how addressing them offers a tremendous potential in reducing errors, increasing efficiency for both diagnosis and development of novel therapies for cancer treatment.

Speaker Bio: Suyog Jain is a Senior Machine Learning Scientist at PathAI, a startup based in Boston and Austin which is developing artificial intelligence technology to solve challenging problems in drug development, clinical medicine, and global health. He graduated from UT Austin with a PhD degree in Computer Science in 2017.
