Topic: “What do I do NOW?!” – Being a Manager in a World

Most companies still believe that the best way to create managers of Agile teams is to promote the most productive members of their technical staff to management roles. Why we still do this, in spite of overwhelming evidence that ineffective managers are the leading cause of employee disengagement and attrition, is baffling. Gallup tells us that only one in 10 managers currently have the skills and talents of “effective managers”.
With less than one-third of the workplace describing themselves as “engaged in their work”, the importance of the role of the manager for engaged, effective teams is critically important. But, if we’re building self-organizing Agile teams, what’s a manager even DO in an Agile organization?
In this workshop, participants will learn about the evolving role of the Agile managers and leaders, a development path to evaluate and design their personal growth, and “do it now!” practices any manager or leader can do tomorrow, that help you jumpstart your alignment with Agile principles to support cross-functional, self-directed Agile Teams.
