In early April, Austin Business Journal touched base with Technology Navigators‘ Managing Partner, Allen Goldsmith, to get a pulse on the job market in Austin, Texas amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. After being in the local recruiting industry for over two decades, our technology-based staffing agency has successfully weathered the storms of years past.
“‘We’ve had Technology Navigators for 20 years now … we went through 9/11 and the dot-com bust, and we went through the ’08 meltdown,’ Goldsmith said. ‘This is different; it’s affecting everyone.'”
Although hiring throughout the United States has dipped significantly in recent weeks, Austin remains largely unscathed in comparison.
“The technology sector has remained a relative safe haven for hiring in Austin. ‘Actually, March was the best month we’ve had this year,’ said Goldsmith, who suggested that people in Austin seem to have been ‘less averse’ to making the changes needed to keep business going. ‘Technology is not going to go away; actually, technology is here to help,’ he added.”
